To arrange desktop icons and have them do what you want.
- Right click any clear place on the desktop.
- Move mouse to “ARRANGE ICONS BY”.
- UNCHECK “ALIGN TO GRID” and “AUTO ARRANGE” which may
have check marks next to them. - (Each time you uncheck an item, you have to repeat the right click
to get the menu back.) - Next, move icons to where you wand them.
- Next, right click any clear spot and choose “REFRESH”.
- That should solve the problem.
